Our Approach
From the moment you first contact
Dr. Magassy's practice in McLean,
Virginia, you'll be working with helpful, friendly people who are easy to talk
with, including, of course, Dr. Magassy himself. One of the hallmarks of the practice is the personal treatment and individual attention each patient receives. In general, however, you can expect your experience to include the following:
The Initial Consultation.
Your experience begins with a personal consultation with
Dr. Magassy. You should come to your consultation prepared to discuss your concerns and goals frankly with
Dr. Magassy, as that is the only way you can benefit from his expertise and experience. And while
Dr. Magassy will be happy to offer his suggestions as to how to achieve your goals, only you know what you want.
After you've discussed what you would like to achieve,
Dr. Magassy will outline recommendations, based on more than 20 years of experience. He'll clearly describe the suggested
procedures, discuss risks and benefits in layman's English and/or Spanish, and jot down the major points for your reference. He'll also review pricing.
After you've completed your consultation, you can take your first concrete steps toward realizing your goals by scheduling your
procedure. Most of
Dr. Magassy's patients have their
procedures performed at the practice's own accredited surgical center, in the privacy and comfort of our new state-of-the-art surgicenter
in McLean. After your procedure is completed, you'll spend a brief time
in the recovery room, with a recovery room nurse always present.
Your recovery will be carefully monitored, and you'll be released as soon as you're ready to go home (for most patients, in about an hour or two). Meanwhile, one of the nurses will meet with your family or friend and provide written instructions for after-care, covering such items as the use of ice packs, prescriptions and so forth. An overnight home care nurse is available by special arrangement.
Follow-Up Care.
One of
Dr. Magassy's nurses will call after your
procedure to check on your recovery and answer any questions you may have. In addition, a doctor is always on-call for urgent questions.
The most common questions asked of
Dr. Magassy have to
do with the period following cosmetic surgery. Will it hurt? How much?
What kind of care do I need afterwards? How long before I can resume my
regular routine?
It's impossible to accurately answer these questions on this site, since each patient and each
procedure is different. In general,
Dr. Magassy
requires that each patient have someone with them for 24 hours after
their procedure. In the great majority of cases, this is simply a
precaution; the person staying with you does not need medical training.
Most people feel quite well within 24 to 48 hours
following their procedure. However, bruising and swelling are common. It
can be minimized by the use of ice packs (you'll receive specific
instructions), but most people plan to take it easy for at least a few
days to allow the swelling to subside.
The most difficult questions to answer are those about pain, because there simply are no objective measurements. However, it's safe to say that while most people do experience some discomfort and pain after their
procedure, it's less than they were worried about. Many report no significant discomfort at all.
